Office 365 & Windows Intune for Beco Inc.

Beco Electric, a leading regional electrical contractor, was challenged with a failing email server, the rapid expansion of their company, and a growing need for IT management. With Office 365 and Windows Intune, Eastridge aided the companies problems with hosted solutions.

 Business Need

Beco Electric is a leading regional electrical contractor with a growing solar energy services business. They were challenged with a failing email server, the rapid expansion of the company, and a growing need for IT management. The company wanted a solution that could be efficient, cost effective, and secure. In addition to the need for a better email solution, the company also needed to take on more employees to cover the new territories while minimizing employee related IT expenditures.

 Solution

Eastridge recommended that Beco consider a cloud services bundle of Office 365 and Windows Intune. Based on the size of the company, and needs for email Office 2010, the Enterprise (Plan 3) for $24.00 in Office 365 was best suited. The Enterprise (Plan 3) included the advanced Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Lync capabilities; plus, Office Web Apps and 5 downloads per user of Office Professional Plus.

To further reduce Beco’s security and IT management challenges, Windows Intune was suggested as an easy to use cloud based management tool that included a license of Windows 7 Enterprise. At $11 per user, the cloud based PC Management system paired well with Office 365.

 Benefits

Innovative. Cost efficient. Flexible. Secure. Reliable.

Office 365 provides the company with the security they need against spam and viruses, the reliability of a 99.9% uptime guarantee, and the flexibility to add or delete accounts as they see fit.

In addition to avoiding the upfront payment for servers, the upfront cost for Office 2010 software (for new employees) was also avoided with Office 365. Within the Office 365 Enterprise (Plan 3), Office Professional Plus upgraded each user to the most recent versions of Office and guarantees them a recurring upgrade as new versions hit the market. The advanced capabilities of Exchange Online not only provided email, calendar, contacts and discovery, but also included archiving. Lync Online provided the communication needed to connect the company across the southeast region with virtual meetings, instant messaging, voice and video calls, and desktop sharing.

Windows Intune filled a void in the company’s infrastructure at a fraction of the cost of an on-premise solution. Intune provided big-tech results with a small-tech investment, with remote PC management and an always up-to-date Windows desktop license.
